RN to BSN Programs in Georgia

Georgia ranks 46th for its ratio of nurses per capita, so the demand for registered nurses (RNs) has remained high despite the struggling economy. Meanwhile, the state is projected to become a health care mecca with a rapid influx of new hospitals and medical offices. Coweta County, south of the Atlanta metro area has two new hospitals on the horizon and is desperate for qualified nurses. Even with an average annual RN salary of $66,973 and some of the top salaries for nurse educators in the country, Georgia still can't recruit enough nurses. The state projects a shortfall of nearly 38,000 nurses by 2020. According to a 2010 Advance for Nursing survey, RNs in the southeastern region that includes Georgia, who had a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) earned over $4 more per hour than their counterparts with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), which makes an RN to BSN program a great career investment.
